Artistic Director: Candy Sze & Anita Sze & Trio Spin Studio

CandyandAnitaTango-Flora

Candy & Anita are lovers of performing art. Candy is a piano and violin teacher.  Anita loves dancing and had learned different kinds of dances before Tango.  She masters both man and lady steps, which is uncommon in the Tango world.  With their music and dance background, Candy & Anita are able to adopt different approaches in teaching Tango.  Their Tango courses are well-structured.  They provide useful tips and exercises to students, and organise Tango master workshops which suit the needs of their students.  Their teaching objective is simple: to enable their students to enjoy Tango and dance freely anywhere in the world.

A few years ago when YouTube was not so popular as today, there were very few channels where one could get to know or see the dance. Candy & Anita demonstrated to their students how Tango should be danced.

These days, one can easily find different kinds of flashy dance performance in the media.  Candy & Anita are still working zealously to promote a dance which emphasises the appreciation of our own bodies and the connection between people that touches our inner feelings.

In Sally Porter’s “The Tango Lesson”, Pablo Veron said Tango had chosen him.  We all go through different stages in learning Tango, like what we experience in life.  Some may think that he had chosen Tango and others think the otherwise.  Everyone has his or her story to tell.

Discover

With the support of Candy and Anita, the Hong Kong Tango Argentino Association (HKTAA) was set up in 2004.  In the years that follow, we have organized various kinds of Tango activities and gathered a group of tango-lovers.

Enrich

Argentine Tango is a music genre, a social dance and a performing art, rooted in its mixed and rich culture.  While the tradition has been very much preserved, new elements, be it in steps or music, have been brought in by tango-lovers around the world.  It is the old and the new, the classic and the new that keep Argentine Tango young and energetic. As a dance, Argentine Tango is more than movements.  It is the conversation between two human bodies and their interpretation of the music.  To achieve this, one has to listen to his/her partner and then respond with one’s body sensitively.  Our tango courses are well-structured aiming to equip learners with the required techniques to enable them to dance freely in any situation.

Develop

Our Tango activities are developed around this core value of Argentine Tango.  We truly, deeply believe in the power of Argentine Tango and want to extend the joy and freedom to more people.  We will continue to work in this direction.
